Establishment of Sanskrit Patshalas in Sikkim
    The state government also approved in principle to support
08 Sanskrit Pathshalas in the State in the year
2003 to impart Karmakanda education to probationer Sanskrit students for the welfare of the Hindu society. Soon after
05 Sanskrit Pathshalas were immediately introduced at following Mandirs with similar facilities payable to monastic Schools.

    Accordingly, the functioning of Monastic Schools and Sanskrit Pathshalas were streamlined and recognized as per regular Government Schools at the Primary level with all required facilities vide Notification
No:415/E.A. dated 20/9/2004 with the creation of a separate “
Directorate of Monastic and Sanskrit Pathshalas” within the administrative fold of the Ecclesiastical Department. Soon after, a systematic education of the Monastic Schools were set up by means of publishing School syllabus for class I to V, Text books & work books from class I to V and of course the Rules, Regulations & General Guidelines for the Monastic School establishment were also framed. The same rules were made applicable to Sanskrit Pathshalas.The published books were distributed during the two days work shop organized by the department, at Janta Bhavan at Gangtok, under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pawan Chamling in the month of March 2005.
Subsequently, the required budgetary allocations was placed directly under the Budget of Ecclesiastical Affairs department with effect from the financial year 2005-06 for smooth functioning of these unique educations of the monasteries and Mandirs.
    Again, in the financial year
2010 to 2011, the government further recognized
