Grants-in-aid to Monastic Schools & Sanskrit Patshalas

A present there are 99 nos. of Monastic Schools and nine nos, of Sanskrit Patshalas under the department.

1. Annual contingent grant of Rs. 5000/- enhanced to Rs. 10,000/- per annum from the year 2005, is being given to each of the Monastic Schools and Sanskrit Patshalas for purchase of stationery/misc. expenses
2. School buildings for the Monastic schools and Sanskrit Patshalas are being constructed at a cost of Rs. 18.00 Lakhs each.
3. Salaries of the teachers of Monastic Schools and Sanskrit Patshalas have been periodically enhanced from Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 3000/- pm (w.e.f. 01.04.2003 vide Notify. No. 760/EA Dt: 16.09.2003) to the present amount of Rs. 5000/- pm (w.e.f 01.04.2005 vide Office Order no. 126/EA Dt: 03.08.2005)
4. Students of Monastic Schools and Sanskrit Patshalas are being provided mid-day meals along with free uniforms, text books and exercise copies every year.
5. The Government has also approved enhancement of stipend of the students of the Traditional Arts School, Tadong from Rs. 200/- & Rs. 300/- pm to Rs. 700/- and Rs.900/- pm respectively w.e.f 01.04.2012
