The Ecclesiastical Affairs Department is one of the oldest and most respected Departments of the State. The Department controls over the external affairs of the Monasteries, Mandirs and all other religious institutions in the State. The Department does not interfere in the internal affairs/ functioning of the religious institutions and organizations, particularly matters relating to religious protocols and ritual traditions.
|
The Department’s office located in the main secretariat building was shifted to the present location just below the Main Line Taxi Stand, Gangtok, in the old West Point School building at Gangtok in December 2000. |
